Network Operators are facing increasing challenges to maximize the return on their investments in network infrastructure. Deep insight into network traffic is essential to understand subscriber behavior, manage the network in an intelligent and efficient way and monetize the services they provide. At CTIA’s Super Mobility Week in Las Vegas, ipoque, a specialist in network traffic and subscriber analytics, today announced the release of its enhanced Net Reporter, a comprehensive and feature-rich traffic and subscriber analytics solution for operators with near-100% detection of all network traffic. Net Reporter delivers information such as application usage, device, location, ARPU and QoE/QoS statistics that are valuable to various departments within network operator, for example, Customer Service to pre-emptively avoid subscriber churn, Network Planning to predict and mitigate against congestion, and Marketing to identify specific subscribers to offer additional revenue generating services.

“Our research has shown that operators are increasingly interested in better mining the valuable data that is contained in their network and operational systems, and are looking at supporting an expanded set of use cases with this information”, explains Shira Levine, Directing Analyst, Service Enablement and Subscriber Intelligence at Infonetics Research. “While revenue generation and customer retention remain key drivers behind analytics initiatives – including churn management, revenue assurance and enabling more customized service bundles for subscribers – we have also seen recent momentum around leveraging network and subscriber analytics for capacity management, network planning and better asset utilization.”
ipoque addresses the growing demand for network traffic visibility with its enhanced Net Reporter that makes it easy to share valuable subscriber insights across the operator’s business operations.
“With our enhanced Net Reporter traffic and subscriber analytics solution we enable mobile and fixed network operators to monetize the pipe they provide by helping them get detailed knowledge about their customer’s usage behavior. The insight gained is extremely valuable for customized Marketing campaigns and made to measure service offers, for example guaranteed QoE for business critical applications or content partnerships with preferred streaming platforms”, stated Dirk Czepluch, CTO at ipoque.
The top use cases for Net Reporter include:
• Marketing & Commercial: retrieve details of usage behavior and protocol trends per subscriber group and individual subscriber to create innovative service offers based on current subscriber needs
• Network Operations & Engineering: to optimize existing mobile network capacity and forecast demand according to traffic evolution trends
• Customer Service: to investigate customer complaints, ensure QoE and customer satisfaction and identify subscribers at risk of churn
Based on ipoque’s extremely reliable application classification and analysis software PACE, Net Reporter has near-100% detection of all protocols and applications, including Peer-to-Peer traffic, IP telephony, video streaming and tunnel protocols, for example VPN. Furthermore the extracted data is enriched with subscriber-related attributes such as ARPU, device-type and location from many different sources including Radius Authentication Attributes, CRM or Type Allocation Code (TAC) databases.
Net Reporter’s analysis works on both a seamless near-real-time and long-term basis. Near-real-time analysis facilitates live operational network monitoring and trouble shooting, while up to 365-days- network-monitoring supports capacity planning. The granularity of data can be drilled down from a high level showing entire network links to an individual subscriber level.
Additionally, Net Reporter can connect with an operator’s CRM database to generate sophisticated subscriber communications that enable efficient and profitable management of the network. Net Reporter’s highly customizable reports can either be directly viewed at the GUI dashboard or distributed via pdf format. Standard interfaces allow external systems to access and query data from the Net Reporter to be further processed, displayed or stored.
