(firmenpresse) - (NL/1459126742) Herrenberg, October 26, 2015 LGI Deutschland GmbH has obtained EICC certification at its Hünxe site, and is one of the first logistics service providers to do so. "By complying with this code of conduct for the electronics industry, LGI is demonstrating to its customers, suppliers, and employees that it is a responsible and reliable partner," says CEO Dr. Andreas Bunz.
The Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) is an independent association made up of leading IT and electronics companies such as Hewlett Packard (HP), Apple, and Samsung, and was set up in 2004. Its aim is to promote a sense of social and ecological responsibility and ethical business practices in the global electronics industry.
The EICC Code of Conduct is a set of standards governing the electronics industry supply chain. These standards ensure that employees are treated with respect and dignity and that the company operates in an ecologically and ethically responsible manner. In this way, the EICC certification goes far beyond mere compliance with legal provisions.
Complying with the Code of Conduct is very important to HP as an EICC member. The company therefore instructs its important strategic partners to have an audit carried out. This includes LGI, which was audited by the independent company Intertek and passed with flying colors.
LGI, which employees around 4,000 people, is one of the first logistics service providers to pass an EICC audit. "LGIs result is very impressive, particularly in light of the fact that the company is not an EICC member and this was its first EICC audit," said Siegfried Dewaldt, SER Country Manager and EICC Lead Auditor at HP, who has been granted access to the certification report.
The certification attests that LGI meets stringent requirements in all five areas of the EICC Code of Conduct: Working conditions, health and safety, environmental protection, company ethics, and a management system that meets the Codes standards. The international certificate is valid for two years.
