A breathtaking island which is dominated by dramatic volcanoes; Lanzarote is a terrific destination for families looking for fun, sun and adventure.
(firmenpresse) - Volcanoes are one of the most fascinating and intriguing natural structures on the entire planet and many children find them completely thrilling. For any parents looking for a fun, valuable and memorable holiday with a warm climate; I think that exploring Lanzarote and the breathtaking volcanoes found there will be the perfect summer holiday.
Background on Lanzarote
Situated off the coast of West Africa, Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the Canary Islands and the third most populous. It is the easternmost of all the islands and it benefits from year-round warm weather. This makes it a popular destination for families looking for a warm holiday without having to fly halfway around the world.
It is a country that is dominated by dormant volcanoes (the last eruption was 300 years ago), which provide a brilliant backdrop for the scenic and picturesque landscapes. There are also many gorgeous beaches, dramatic caves, theme parks, water based sports possibilities and other activities to ensure that there is never a dull moment whether you are going for a week, ten days or two weeks. A natural playground with plenty to see and do for both the children and adults; Lanzarote has an exotic feel, but it is not too far to travel and much more affordable than other similar destinations.
Where to Go on the Island
Lanzarote is a beautiful island with many superb places to visit. The capital city is Arrecife, which is found in the centre-east. Here you will find an attractive promenade, sandy beaches, castles, a lively marina and a beautiful lagoon. This can be a wonderful day out for you and the kids, whilst the village of Haria is also a must visit. I would recommend visiting Haria on a Saturday, when there is a delightful market to explore. There are also a handful of family friendly restaurants to check out after an entertaining day in the village.
Timanfaya National Park will prove to be a highlight for you and your little ones, as this magnificent park has astonishing views and is home to the famous “Fire Mountains†which were formed by gigantic volcanic activity. This gives the area a distinctive “Martian†landscape which is fascinating and great fun for all ages.
Another amazing area to explore on the island is Mirador del Rio, which is the highest point at approximately 475 metres. This allows for truly dazzling views of Lanzarote and the tiny nearby island of La Graciosa. There is also a pleasant inside area with a restaurant, so you can eat whilst you take in the view. Just be sure it is not too cloudy on the day!
Lanzarote is home to many amusement parks which can make for a thrilling day out. It is a terrific way to keep the kids amused, with Rancho Texas also featuring a number of animals.
How to Get There
Lanzarote is a terrific family holiday destination for those seeking warm weather without having to travel too far. Flights leave from all the UK’s major airports with a number of airlines making the journey, which lasts around four and a half hours.
Right after you book your flights, arrange Lanzarote airport transfers online - this is a quick, affordable and stress-free way to reach your final destination. Due to the small size of the island, the transfer will not take long and you can then begin to enjoy everything that this terrific island has to offer ASAP!
