Tecco invites visitors to print their Smartphone photos (Hipstas) on Fine Art Media
And introduces new square »Hipsta« format and photo collection cartridge »Tecco:Box«
(firmenpresse) - Tecco, innovation leader and trend setter in the market for photo, fine art and proofing media, invites visitors to their booth at PCP Tour. Exhibitions take place from April 16th to May 09th in Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart.
Fine Art prints of Smartphone photos (Hipstas)
Using a square paper (21x21 cm) which was developed specially for the Hipsta format, Tecco demonstrates how fascinating the combination of trashy Hipsta quality on significant fine art media can be. The emotionality caused by Hipstamatic photos on fine art rag or on the fine glossy BTG 300 Baryt is irresistible.
Special Guest: Print visionary Hermann Will, FineArt Printer
In the cities Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart Hermann Will, a well-known inkjet and paper specialist will be at the Tecco booth. The Publisher and Editor-in-chief of leading magazines, among them FineArt Printer and Novum, looks forward to many interesting discussions. He also imparts his expertise in practical way, making photos of visitors using the Hipstamatic App on his iPhone. The portraits produced will be printed on Tecco´s new square Hipstamatic format: »Tecco:Square« using two of the finest papers Baryt and FineArt Rag with special haptical impression and certification for long durability (»Henry-Wilhelm-Certification«).
Background information: Past and Present – From Instamatic to Hipstamatic
The Instamatic was a series of inexpensive, easy-to-load 126 and 110 cameras made by Kodak beginning in 1963. The Instamatic was immensely successful, introducing a generation to low-cost photography and spawning numerous imitators. In its segment the Instamatic film got a very high market share, more than 150 mio. cameras were sold worldwide.
Hipstamatic is a digital photography application for the Apple iPhone. It uses the iPhone‘s camera to allow the user to shoot square photographs, to which it applies a number of software filters to make the images look as though they were taken with an antique film camera. The user can choose among a number of effects which are presented in the application as simulated lenses, films and flashes. Several of these are included with the
application, while others may be acquired through an in-app purchase. Hipstamatic is part of a retro trend in photography, which has seen a rise in the popularity of cheap and technically obsolete analog cameras (such as Lomography and Polaroid instant cameras), as well as software filters and smartphone software that emulate such cameras.
Pulitzer prize winner Damon Winter, who works for the New York Times, used Hipstamatic while taking photos of US soldiers during his assignment in Afghanistan. With an iPhone he was capable of making photos without attracting attention. For his photo report he was awarded with the »Picture of the Year International« prize.

Tecco goes Hipsta: Retro-Style meets Facebook
The consciously chosen rudimental options for settings lead to retro style results. They move the user back, into the time of imperfection in terms of color, sharpness and contrast. To pass on these emotions, especially through the fast growing use by the Facebook generation, make the Hipstamatic market increasingly popular.
